Ataturk's House

The past is one of the most important elements of a society and nation. Our city, Kayseri, has a great place and importance in the national struggle, which is our recent history. Undoubtedly, museums are the elements that keep those days alive and carry them to the present and transfer them to future generations. One of our values that carries our days of National Struggle to today is Kayseri Atatürk House and museum.

As the thirteenth of our Erciyes College Generations Meeting Project, we will examine the Kayseri Atatürk House museum;

Kayseri Atatürk House, built in the 19th century, has a historical significance as well as reflecting the old Turkish-Islamic Culture of the Ottoman Period. During the National Struggle, on 11-20 December 1919, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was hosted in this mansion when he came to Kayseri on behalf of the Committee of Representatives.

Due to the fact that the mansion is both a cultural and historical heritage, it was expropriated in 1978 and opened to visitors as Atatürk's house in 1983. On December 19, 1998, the second floor of the mansion was organized as "Atatürk Museum" and started to serve.

With this work of our Generations Gathering project, our students got to know the Ottoman culture, namely the Turkish-Islamic culture closely. They have increased their awareness by examining the process of the National Struggle with its historical aspect.

With the study of Kayseri Atatürk House and Museum, it is aimed to increase the developmental functions of our students such as being able to make historical and cultural analysis, raising sociological awareness and increasing responsibility awareness.

At the same time, our work has been presented in 3 different languages: Turkish, English and Spanish. In this way, although our project crossed the borders of our country, our students had the opportunity to effectively use the theoretical English and Spanish language knowledge they learned at Erciyes College.

It should not be forgotten that; The future will continue to exist with the past. In this context, as the Erci-yes College family, we will continue to raise generations at the summit, who are inspired by their past, know their values and shape their future... The future is at the summit with us...
