National Struggle Museum

The museum is the place where historical and cultural artifacts are collected and exhibited. The aim in museums is to transfer the elements from the past to future generations and thus to prevent them from being forgotten and lost.

Our national struggle has been the struggle for the existence and self-disclosure of our Republic, which is now (2017) in its 95th year. For this reason, Kayseri National Struggle Museum was opened in order to convey that period (1918-1923), which is our recent history, to the youth and keep it dynamic.

Kayseri National Struggle Museum was established in the high school building, which is now known as Kayseri High School. This building was built as Seyfullah Efendi Mansion. Then, in 1893, he started his education life under the name of "Degree-i Ula Mekteb-i Mülkiye High School". In 1915, it took the name "Kayseri Sultanisi".

During the independence struggle, the high school building was made ready for the TGNA meetings after the decision of the TGNA to move the government headquarters to Kayseri. But it was later abandoned. In the Battle of Sakarya in 1921, all the senior students of the school went to the front and never came back. The school did not graduate that year.

During the Republican years, the school continued as a high school. He continued his education and training life with additions and deletions in various years. According to the decision taken in 2016, it was decided that the building, which has an important place in our national struggle, will be a museum and it has been opened to the public as the National Struggle Museum.

The place and importance of Kayseri in the national struggle are also included in the museum along with all the works belonging to the national struggle. In addition, as Kayseri High School, they processed the history of education and school history in the museum.

We have chosen the Kayseri National Struggle Museum as the 11th of our generation meeting project. In this way, our students had the opportunity to have information about our recent past, how our Republic came to these days, the history of education, and to visualize those days in their minds. They were able to improve their analytical skills by comparing themselves with their peers at that time.

With this study, as stated above, it is aimed to raise the mental and developmental functions such as the formation of historical consciousness in students, fulfilling their responsibilities, and museum analysis. Other
As in the studies, this study was presented in Turkish, English and Spanish languages, and the use and practice of foreign languages in students was increased.

It should be known that those who do not know their past cannot direct their future. In this context, as the Erciyes College Family, we will continue to raise generations who are inspired by their past, know their values and shape their future...
