Historic American College
Aiming for our students to understand the present and shape their future based on the past; The second of the Generations Meeting Project, which aims to convey the universal history of the geography they live in to future generations through Erciyes College students, was carried out by examining Talas American Colleges for Girls and Boys.
Talas American Colleges for Girls and Boys; It was established in 1871 by the ABCFM (Amerikan Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions), which aimed to spread and carry out missionary activities in the Ottoman Empire. Since this date, it has tried to gather the people of the region around itself through education services. Although it was closed at various times, it continued its activities until 1967. Today, it continues to be used as Erciyes University Social Facilities.
With this study, historical consciousness and social observation skills were also developed in our students. Same time; Our students were given the opportunity to develop their ability to examine and analyze space.
As Erciyes College, we; We have found it appropriate to present and publish this college study, which also concerns the universal history of the world, both in English and Turkish. Because in this context, thanks to our project, our students both discovered the existence of their observation skills and had the opportunity to use the theoretical English they learned at school in a practical way.
