Military use of double-eyed binoculars began towards the middle of the 19th century. In particular, it began to be used for military tactical and artillery purposes. The first double-eyed binoculars were Galilean-type binoculars based on the same principle as telescopes. The military use of these binoculars became widespread, especially during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. In this battle, the double-eyed binoculars used by the German artillery units helped the Germans to prevail by aiming at the enemy lines more accurately.
During World War I, the military use of double-eyed binoculars became even more widespread. During this period, there were major changes in military tactics, and double-eyed binoculars were further developed, especially for use in trench warfare, reconnaissance activities, and artillery firing.
Today, military double-eye binoculars are still used and are one of the basic optical devices of military units used for various purposes. In particular, they are used in areas such as military reconnaissance, artillery firing, air defense and night vision.
